Funza Lushaka Bursary for 2025
Before applying for Funza Lushaka, candidates must meet the following minimal qualifications (please be aware that your application will not be reviewed if you do not meet all the prerequisites):
Each applicant needs to fulfil the following requirements:
- You have to be a citizen of South Africa.
- A current South African ID number is required.
- If you are applying for the first time, you must be 30 years of age or younger.
- It is required that you have been admitted to pursue a BEd degree or PGCE program, with a minimum of two subject areas of specialisation from the priority list (extended programs are not covered).
- You had to be enrolled in a South African state university by now.
- Need to have a solid academic background.
- You have to agree to work as a teacher at any school that the Provincial Education Department (PED) chooses.
- You cannot work for a higher education institution or be a higher education institution employee’s spouse, dependant, or kid.
- A teaching career requires dedication and passion, which includes a desire to work with young people, excitement for the subject matter, and the ability to rise to challenges in a way that is morally upright.
- You are not allowed to hold any other teaching certifications.
- One must not possess a criminal history.
- You cannot be facing any misbehavior charges.
- You can’t have been fired from your job.
First year students to universities need to fulfill the following requirements:
- You must have earned a bachelor’s degree admittance, an exemption from, or an endorsement from Matriculation.
- Students who will specialize in Foundation Phase: you must have achieved a minimum level 2 pass for Mathematics OR a minimum level 4 pass for Mathematical Literacy AND a minimum of level 4 pass for your Home Language in Matric.
- You must have attained a minimum of level 4 in Matric for two subjects you intend to specialize in teaching.
- Pupils planning to specialize in the Intermediate Phase must have received as least a level 4 in Mathematics AND a minimum of a level 4 in your home language, OR a minimum of a level 4 in Science AND a minimum of a level 4 in your home language during their Matric education.
- Students who did not pass these topics in their matriculation but plan to specialize in teaching technology subjects (CAT, IT, and other Technical stream subjects): You must have received at least a level 4 pass in Technical Mathematics or Mathematics during your Matriculation.
Note: The higher criteria will apply if the bursary requirement is met or exceeded by the standards for admission to the postsecondary school.
Additionally, newly admitted university students must fulfill the following requirements:
- You have to have completed all of your coursework in your prior year of university study.
- You ought to have completed your previous year of tertiary studies with a minimum overall average of 55% across all disciplines studied.
- In the preceding year of tertiary education, you must have earned a minimum overall average of 66.6% for topics relating to the teaching area of specialization.
Additionally, prospective PGCE students must fulfill the following requirements:
- It is required of you to have fulfilled a prerequisite for enrollment in the PGCE program.
- For Senior Phase and Further Education and Training Teaching (SPFET) (Grades 7 through 12), you must be pursuing the PGCE.
- You need to take two priority subjects, one of which must be successfully completed at the third-year level and the other at the second-year level.
- To be eligible to teach a priority subject in a classroom, you must possess a sufficient number of modules in that subject.
HOW TO APPLY FOR THE FUNZA LUSHAKA BURSARY
Online submissions alone are accepted at Funza Lushaka Bursary Application 2023.
In order to submit their bursary application, applicants must do the following:
1) Go to the website of the e-Government Portal.
2) Create an account by providing the necessary personal information (after checking the boxes indicating your agreement to the e-Gov portal’s terms and conditions and privacy policy).
3) Enter your chosen username and password to log in.
4) From the e-Services Menu, choose the “Funza Lushaka Bursary Scheme.”
5) Insert the obtained OTP.
6) Go over the terms and conditions and agree.
7) On the dashboard, select the “2023 application” button.
8) Complete the necessary fields.
9) Verify your information by reading and accepting the declaration.
In the space provided for how you learned about the Funza Lushaka Bursary, type “www.zabursaries.co.za.”
Please take note that we are only accepting applications online; we are not accepting applications in paper copy.
APPLICATION NOTES FOR THE FUNZA LUSHAKA BURSARY
- Before applying, students must read the Funza Lushaka Bursary Information. When applying, students need to have a valid student number, which they will get after being accepted or conditionally accepted to the university.
- Make sure the information you have submitted is accurate; you can check your online application and make any necessary changes before submitting it in its final form.
- Make sure the subjects you list as your top priorities on your application correspond to your areas of expertise.
- The level you are studying (B Ed 1 is first year, B Ed 2 is second year, etc.) is known as your academic year of study.
- Once you apply for the bursary, you are not permitted to attend another university.
- Receiving the bursary is not a given just because you applied for it.
- The Funza Lushaka office of your university must receive any supporting documentation.
