Position Overview
The primary objective of this role is to ensure the safety and security of personnel, facilities, and assets at the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) Head Office.
Role Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be tasked with the following key responsibilities:
- Implement access and egress control measures within operational areas.
- Perform guarding, patrolling, and escorting duties to protect the facility from illegal or unauthorized activities.
- Identify, respond to, and report security and emergency threats, signals, and situations under various conditions.

Qualifications
- A Grade 12 certificate or an equivalent NQF 4 qualification.
- A Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA) Grade C qualification.
- A competency certificate for handling firearms, including a 9 mm pistol, semi-automatic rifle, and shotgun.
- A minimum of two to five years of experience in a security role.
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, including the National Key Points (NKP) Act 102 of 1980 and its regulations, the Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000, the Criminal Procedure Act 51 of 1977, as well as SARB policies and procedures regarding firearm usage.
- A level of medical, psychological, and physical fitness appropriate for the demands of the position.
- A strong sense of professionalism, discipline, and the physical capability to work extended hours.
- Availability to work shifts, including weekends, and to fulfil duties as required by operational needs.
Additional qualifications encompass:
compliance with instructions and procedures; ability to adapt and respond to changes; proficiency in writing and reporting; capability to make decisions and take initiative; commitment to principles and values; application of expertise and technology; and resilience in handling pressures and setbacks.
The following would be considered beneficial:
