Introduction
The Wet Mill Plant plays a vital role in the sustainability of the mill and the implementation of operational excellence strategies aimed at achieving budgeted targets related to plant capacity utilization, efficiency, quality, utility management, and cost control, all while fostering talent engagement and retention.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the Wet Milling plant by collecting chemicals, disposing of fly ash waste, reworking Feed, Gluten, Germ, and Maize, and performing general cleaning tasks on a daily basis.
- Meet production targets consistently.
- Proactively identify and report product spillage and leaks to mitigate financial losses.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with colleagues regarding plant-related issues.
- Actively cultivate professional relationships both within and across teams.
- Ensure plant efficiency by conducting essential process checks.
- Adjust operational parameters as necessary.
- Conduct daily and monthly Work In Progress (WIP) assessments and convert these assessments into actual figures. Complete daily inventories of chemical stock available on the plant floor.
- Facilitate product transfer.
- Collect product effluent samples in accordance with established procedures.
- Exhibit an understanding of both internal and external customer needs and expectations, delivering services accordingly.
- Operate in compliance with safety, health, environmental, and community regulations.
- Adhere to workplace policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Maintain the plant in hygienic conditions.
- Obtain requisitions for chemical collection from the chemical store as needed.
- Complete the Master Cleaning Schedules for the plant.
- Provide relevant information to the Wet Mill process Controller (Milling, Co-products, and Steeps) to ensure uninterrupted plant operations.
- Perform daily cleaning of the plant.
- Dispose of fly ash waste.
- Rework Feed, Gluten, Germ, and Maize waste.
- Clean fiber wash screens using hypo and high-pressure water.
- Clean Merco underflow lines and chutes with high-pressure water.
- Wash the Gluten RVF trough and the surrounding floor area.
- Clean Merco nozzles and wash plates, as well as all suction pots.
- Assist in the removal of blockages within the Wet Mill (Wet Milling, Co-Products, and Steeps).
- Assist in the initiation and termination of operations at the Wet Milling Plant.
- Support the addition of sulfur at the burner hopper.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Completion of Grade 12 (Mathematics and Science).
- Experience in basic wet milling training is advantageous.
- 1-3 years of operational experience.
