
About the Programme
Hey there! Takealot, along with the Youth Employment Service (YES), is offering a cool 12-month paid learnership for young people who are looking for work experience. This programme is all about teaching you digital marketing and e-commerce skills while helping small businesses that sell on Takealot Marketplace.
Just a heads up: you’ll be working with small businesses (called SMMEs) that sell on Takealot, not directly with Takealot itself.
Programme Structure
Here’s what you need to know about the programme:
Duration: 12-month fixed-term contract
Placement: You’ll be working with small businesses that sell on Takealot Marketplace.
Work Split:
- 80% of your time will be spent on digital marketing and marketplace activities.
- 20% will be about learning other parts of the small business.
Location: You’ll be working in different places across Gauteng, mostly in townships and urban areas.
Support: You’ll get regular help and guidance from Takealot’s programme coordinators.

Important Notes

What You’ll Do
Here’s a list of tasks you’ll be responsible for during your workdays:
- Provide friendly and professional customer service.
- Help solve product or service problems by listening to customers and figuring out what went wrong.
- Communicate with customers through phone and email.
- Use different software tools to find solutions.
- Work with other departments to help solve customer issues.
- Take care of customers and make sure their needs are met, as Takealot aims to be the most customer-friendly company in Africa!
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you’ll need:
- A Matric certificate.
- Good English skills.
- To live within 49km of the job location.
- A clear criminal record.
Preferences
If you meet these preferences, that’s great! But don’t worry if you don’t; you can still be considered:
- South African candidates.
- Young people between 18 and 25 years old.
