Position Overview

We are currently looking for a dependable, energetic, and detail-oriented Cash and Card Transaction Administrator to join our team. This individual will be responsible for managing and overseeing all cash and card-related transactions at one of our retail outlets. The position requires strong numeracy, customer service orientation, and the ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Core Responsibilities

The Cash and Card Transaction Administrator plays a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity of our retail operations. The following key duties and responsibilities are central to the role:

1. Sales Processing at Paypoints

  • Execute all sales transactions efficiently at designated paypoints.
  • Ensure that each transaction is handled with accuracy and complies with internal policies.
  • Reconcile transaction amounts at the end of each shift or working day.
  • Process receipts for customers across all payment methods including cash, card, and cheque.

2. Customer Service

  • Deliver professional, courteous service to every customer.
  • Assist clients with queries and payment-related concerns, ensuring a smooth retail experience.
  • Resolve client issues efficiently while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude.
  • Promote a customer-first approach at all times, upholding the values of the VKB Group.

3. Cash Handling and Daily Banking

  • Responsible for collecting and counting all cash and cheques received daily.
  • Perform daily banking of all cash and cheque collections according to company procedures.
  • Reconcile receipts with transaction records and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
  • Prepare daily summaries and deposit slips for financial record-keeping.

4. Card Transactions and Back Office Support

  • Process receipts from card customers accurately and efficiently.
  • Support the administrative tasks associated with card payments and ensure proper allocation of funds.
  • Liaise with internal departments regarding transaction queries and support needs.

5. Administrative Duties

  • Keep accurate records of all financial transactions conducted at the store.
  • Maintain organized filing systems for receipts, deposit slips, and transaction logs.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and financial controls.
  • Provide administrative support for related retail or back-office activities when needed.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Education: Grade 12 or equivalent (NQF Level 4).
  • Computer Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a similar cash-handling or administrative role will be advantageous and serve as a recommendation.
  • Strong numeracy and attention to detail are essential.
