Job Overview

The City of Johannesburg is currently offering an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and reliable individual to join its Customer Services Centre as a Cashier. This role is ideal for someone who has experience working in a cash collection environment and values professionalism, accuracy, and excellent customer service.

As a Cashier, you will be responsible for the accurate processing and acceptance of various forms of payments, including cash, debit cards, and credit cards. The successful candidate will work within the Customer Services Centre and contribute to the operational efficiency and service excellence of the City of Johannesburg.


Key Responsibilities

  • Process and accept payments through cash, debit cards, and credit cards at the Customer Services Centre.
  • Deliver excellent customer service while maintaining a professional and courteous manner at all times.
  • Ensure accuracy in all transactions and handle all payments in accordance with municipal regulations.
  • Contribute to the development, review, and updating of policies, standard operating procedures, and by-laws related to customer service and billing.
  • Support the City’s Customer Service Centre in achieving its strategic goals through consistent and reliable service.
  • Perform duties with integrity, attention to detail, and confidentiality.

Minimum Requirements

  • Educational Qualification: Grade 10 or NQF Level 2 certificate.
  • Experience: At least 6 months of relevant work experience in a cash collection or cashier role.
