Introduction
I am looking for a reliable and hardworking domestic worker to assist with the daily cleaning of short-term rental apartments in the Umhlanga area.
Duties & Responsibilities
Assistance with light laundry or guest turnover prep will be advantageous
General Cleaning of apartments – all equipment provided.
This is not a live-in position.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Must have reliable transport
Experience in domestic work prefered

Rights and Protections
- Minimum Wage: Domestic workers are entitled to a minimum wage of R25.42 per hour, with a monthly minimum of R4,067.20 for 40 hours of work per week.
- Working Hours: Domestic workers should not work more than 45 hours per week, with overtime paid at 1.5 times the normal hourly rate.
- Leave Entitlements ¹:
- Annual Leave: 21 consecutive days of paid annual leave per year.
- Sick Leave: 30 days of paid sick leave over a three-year cycle.
- Maternity Leave: 4 months of unpaid maternity leave, with UIF benefits available.
- Family Responsibility Leave: 3-5 days of paid family responsibility leave per year.
- UIF Benefits: Domestic workers are entitled to UIF benefits, with both employer and employee contributing 1% of the employee’s salary each month ² ³.
Employer Responsibilities
- Registration: Employers must register their domestic workers with the UIF and Compensation Fund.
- Payment: Employers must pay their domestic workers at least the minimum wage, with payslips provided monthly.
- Notice Period: Employers must provide written notice of termination, with a minimum of 1 week’s notice for employees with less than 6 months’ service and 4 weeks’ notice for employees with more than 6 months’ service ⁴ ⁵.
