Cash Processor

Overview

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and reliable individual to join our team as a Cash Processor. This role is vital for ensuring the secure, efficient, and accurate handling of cash in alignment with the company’s standard operating procedures (SOPs), as well as the client’s Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

As a Cash Processor, you will play an essential role in supporting the daily operations of our cash processing division. Your responsibilities will include receiving, counting, and verifying cash deposits from a variety of clients, and making sure each transaction is processed with the highest level of integrity, accuracy, and compliance.

The ideal candidate will be someone who thrives in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment, has exceptional attention to detail, and understands the importance of maintaining trust and confidentiality in handling large volumes of cash.


Key Responsibilities

The Cash Processor may perform one or several of the following key functions. Training and oversight will be provided, and performance is evaluated based on accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.

1. Cash Receipt and Verification

  • Receive and acknowledge cash containers or bags from clients using the applicable system.
  • Inspect all containers/bags for signs of damage, tampering, or interference and report any anomalies immediately to the Team Controller.
  • Ensure each container or bag is accurately logged and accepted according to SOPs.

2. Cash Processing and Handling

  • Process all client deposits in line with company standards and bank SLAs using the appropriate internal systems.
  • Accurately prepare your workstation to enable efficient and error-free note counting.
  • Sort and prepare all deposits for Final Deposit Processing (FDP) or Additional Cash Deposit Processing (ACDP) on the same business day, ensuring adherence to daily cut-off times.
  • Reject any notes that do not meet quality standards and forward them, along with the relevant deposit slips, PCD cards, and stop-loss bags, to the designated Reject Teller for verification and balancing.

3. Cash Reconciliation and Reporting

  • Balance each deposit individually and report any discrepancies or irregularities to the Team Controller immediately.
  • Maintain accurate records of all processed transactions on the daily production sheet.
  • Ensure that all cash bundles at the end of each day are reviewed and verified by the Team Controller.

4. Documentation and System Updates

  • Complete and update transaction records on internal systems for transparency and audit purposes.
  • Display a handwritten board (including client name, transaction date, denomination details, bundle count, and operator name) in front of the surveillance camera for verification.
  • Log any system downtimes or technical issues in the downtime register and notify the technician as needed.
  • Participate in daily reconciliation efforts led by the Team Controller to ensure end-of-day accuracy.

The successful candidate for the Cash Processor position must demonstrate the following abilities:

  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced, high-risk environment
  • Strong sense of responsibility, confidentiality, and integrity
  • Good communication skills, especially in reporting discrepancies and following instructions
  • Teamwork and collaboration with colleagues and supervisory staff

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematical Literacy is required
  • At least 6 months of previous experience in a similar cashier, teller, or money-handling role is advantageous
  • Familiarity with financial systems or cash management software will be an added benefit
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including shifts, weekends, and holidays if needed
