Key Responsibilities
As a General Worker, your daily duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting floors, carpets, and furniture in offices, restrooms, and communal areas.
- Emptying trash cans regularly and ensuring proper disposal of waste materials in accordance with company protocols.
- Ensuring that all outdoor walkways, pathways, and entrance areas are kept free of debris, litter, and obstructions to maintain safety and cleanliness.
- Cleaning and sanitizing restroom facilities to ensure they are hygienic and well-stocked at all times.
- Assisting with basic hospitality tasks, including preparing and serving tea or refreshments to office staff or visitors when required.
- Carrying out general housekeeping tasks throughout the premises, including windows, kitchenettes, and storerooms.
- Reporting any maintenance issues, hazards, or items in need of repair (such as broken taps, faulty lighting, or leaks) to the relevant supervisor or facilities manager.
- Operating cleaning equipment and using appropriate cleaning chemicals safely and correctly.
- Complying with all health and safety regulations, workplace hygiene rules, and supervisor instructions.
- Supporting other departments and staff as needed to ensure seamless daily operations.
- Performing other reasonable duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Grade 12 / Matric / NQF Level 4 qualification.
- Must be medically fit to perform physical tasks daily.
- Reliable and punctual, with good attendance and timekeeping habits.
- Willingness to work on rotational shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Must have a clean criminal record.
- Must possess reliable transportation to and from the workplace.
Required Skills and Competencies
The ideal candidate will possess a blend of physical ability, attention to detail, and strong interpersonal skills. These include:
- Physical fitness and the stamina to walk, bend, lift, push, and pull cleaning equipment and materials on a regular basis.
